Eldon G. Hopkins, MD

Dr. Eldon G. Hopkins, MDDr. Hopkins is a fellowship-trained total joint replacement surgeron specializing in the surgical and non-surgical treatment of arthritis of the Hip & Knee. Dr. Hopkins graduated in the top 3% of his class from UT Southwestern Medical School and then went on to complete his Orthopedic Surgery Residency at the prestigious Emory University where he served as Chief Orthopedic Resident. While at Emory Dr. Hopkins excelled and was ultimately awarded a Fellowship in Total Joint Replacement at the world renown Scripps Clinic and Scripps Green Hospital. After completion of his fellowship, Dr. Hopkins joined the faculty of Baylor College of Medicine as the youngest member of the nationally and internationally recognized joint replacement section of the Department of Orthopedic Surgery where he served as Assistant Professor of Orthopedic Surgery and Total Joint Replacement. While at Baylor Dr. Hopkins was an integral part of the joint repalcement service which performed over 1500 total joint replacements a year.

While at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Dr. Hopkins also cared for a large volume Hip Fracture Service, serving as Orthopedic Consultant to the Baylor Geriatric Service from 2001 to 2005. He has also served as a consultant to major joint implant companies and has held numerous leadership positions including Chief of Joint Replacement at Ben Taub General Hospital in Houston, TX and served as Director of The Methodist Hospital Charity Joint Replacement Program at Methodist Hospital in the Texas Medical Center both from 2001-2005. After the disappointing break-up between Baylor College of Medicine and its primary teaching affiliate, The Methodist Hospital in Houston, Dr. Hopkins resigned from Baylor following the break up of his group. This difficult decision ultimately culminated in the founding of

Texas Hip & Knee Surgery
